About the Club

The Club is a registered none profit organization and was formed back in 1973 under its original name "The Halton Cross Country Ski Club". Since that time it has been providing an opportunity for skiers to meet one another, to share experiences, and ski in small groups rather than alone.  The club still caters to skiers, but in the early eighties, added “cycling” to it's program. Today the Club sponsers an even wider outdoors program which  includes hiking, canoeing, kayaking and snowshoeing. Our membership is composed of families and single individuals of all ages and abilities.

In the late nineties another major event took place, once again shaping the history of the club. At that time the name of the Club was changed to “The Halton Outdoor Club”.  As a result the Club is now officially dedicated to promoting year round outdoor activities such as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, cycling and paddling, thereby providing its members with an even  greater choice of participating and training in these sports.

During ski season we run many day trips as well as several multi-day trips to more distant destinations. Lessons are offered early in the season to encourage beginners to learn the basics.

Paddling is another activity where Clinics are arranged during the off-season, to promote Safety Skills and Rescue. Instructions are provided by Paddle Canada Certified Instructors. (PCCI)

During the year the Club organizes two Information Nights, one in November for Winter Activities and one in May for Fair Weather Activities such a hiking, cycling and paddling.  In addition to our web site, a Club Newsletter is published five times a year to inform members of future, current and past events.
